Be/Here at Ashton-under-Lyne’s First Pride

Be/Here is really proud to be attending Ashton-under-Lyne’s first Pride.

There is something incredibly powerful about a place holding its first Pride. It is more than an event. It is a message to LGBTQIA+ people locally that we are here, we belong, and we deserve to feel safe, visible and celebrated in the communities we call home.

For me, Pride has always been about more than flags and celebration, although there should always be space for joy. Pride is also about safety, protest, visibility, connection and making sure people know they are not alone. For many LGBTQIA+ people, being able to walk through their own town and see support, community and acceptance can mean more than people realise.

Be/Here will be there to share information about our LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, free mental health skills workshops, peer support spaces, community groups and training. We will also…
