Move from awareness to action

Awareness is important, but it is not enough on its own.

Managers, HR teams, safeguarding leads and frontline services need the confidence to respond well when LGBTQIA+ staff or service users disclose distress, discrimination, harm or unmet needs. They also need practical tools to build team cultures where people feel safer before they reach crisis point.

Be/Here’s Level 2 Applied Practice Workshop is designed for organisations ready to move beyond introductory awareness and into real workplace behaviour, leadership practice and safer response.

This LGBTQIA+ manager and team training is interactive, practical and discussion-based. It supports teams to understand the impact of minority stress, trauma, masking and discrimination, while building clear actions that can be used immediately.

This workshop is ideal for:

  • Managers

  • Team leaders

  • HR teams

  • Safeguarding leads

  • Frontline services

  • Public sector teams

  • NHS and healthcare teams

  • Local authority teams

  • Housing associations

  • Education settings

  • VCSE organisations

  • Commissioned services

  • Organisations supporting LGBTQIA+ staff or service users

This session is especially useful for teams who already have basic LGBTQIA+ awareness but want to feel more confident in real situations.

What the workshop Covers

During the Level 2 Manager & Team Training, Applied Practice workshop participants will explore:

Minority stress and trauma-informed understanding

Participants explore the psychological and physical impact of discrimination, chronic stress, masking and repeated experiences of being unsafe or unseen.

This section helps teams understand why LGBTQIA+ inclusion needs to be connected to mental health, trauma-informed practice and workplace wellbeing.

Everyday inclusion in management practice

Inclusion is not just a statement. It shows up in supervision, team meetings, communication, decision-making, absence management, wellbeing conversations and how concerns are handled.

We help managers and teams think about what inclusive practice looks like in day-to-day workplace situations.

Reporting and response culture

Many LGBTQIA+ people do not report harm because they do not trust that they will be believed, protected or supported.

This section explores how organisations can create safer systems for disclosure, support and accountability, including how to respond when something has gone wrong.

Affirming language and workplace habits

This workshop supports participants to move beyond fear of “getting it wrong” and into practical confidence.

We look at the small but meaningful habits that help LGBTQIA+ staff feel respected, including language, repair, curiosity, confidentiality and consistency.

Case studies and practical actions

The workshop uses real-life scenarios and guided discussion to help participants practise responding to workplace challenges.

The aim is to leave with actions that are realistic, relevant and usable.

What participants will gain
