LGBTQIA+ Therapy in Manchester

Looking for LGBTQIA+ therapy in Manchester should not mean having to search for someone who only sort of gets it.

At Be/Here, we offer queer therapy in Manchester and Greater Manchester for people who want support that feels safer, more informed, and more human. We know many LGBTQIA+ people come to therapy carrying more than one thing at once — anxiety, burnout, trauma, identity questions, relationship stress, grief, or simply the exhaustion of moving through spaces that have not always felt safe.

You do not need to explain the basics of who you are here.
You do not need to be in crisis.
You do not need to arrive perfectly put together.

Why specialist LGBTQIA+ therapy matters

Finding a therapist locally is one thing. Finding one who understands the reality of minority stress, identity exploration, family estrangement, intersectionality, and systemic barriers is something else entirely.

At Be/Here, that understanding is built into the model. Every therapist working with Be/Here has completed additional specialist LGBTQIA+ training beyond their core qualifications, and the site is very clear that being “affirming” is not enough.

If you want to learn more about that approach, you can read "Creating Safe Spaces for the Queer Community." If your support needs are more identity-specific, you can also explore Trans and Non-Binary Therapy.

Why do people come to therapy in Manchester?

You might be looking for support because you are:

  • feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally stretched

  • burned out from minority stress

  • navigating trauma or long-term stress

  • questioning your identity

  • dealing with family rejection or estrangement

  • struggling with confidence, boundaries, or relationships

  • carrying the pressure of always having to adapt

There is no “right” issue to bring.
There is no threshold you need to meet before support is allowed to matter.

If some of this feels familiar, How to Access LGBTQ+ Mental Health Support at Be/Here is a good place to read more, or you can explore Queer Therapy Stockport if you want a closely related local support page.

How Be/Here can support you

Be/Here LGBTQIA+ therapy and community care

All of our therapists have completed additional LGBTQIA+ specialist training beyond their core qualifications.

We do not believe that simply calling a service “affirming” is enough. People deserve support that is informed, ethical, and grounded in a deeper understanding of minority stress, identity, trauma, family estrangement, intersectionality, and the wider systems that shape mental health.

We also do not believe meaningful support should be reduced to an arbitrary limit like eight weeks or a fixed number of sessions.

Different people need different things. For some, support may be brief. For others, it may take longer to feel safe enough to explore what is really going on. Our approach is person-centred, which means support is shaped around the individual, not around a rigid timeline.

We currently offer Therapy Pricing with sliding-scale access, 50-minute sessions, in-person support in Stockport and Greater Manchester, online therapy across the UK, and no referral is needed. Free workshops and supportive community spaces are also part of the wider offer, which you can explore through Events
